Learn How to start a garden- A beginner’s guide [2022]

In case of maintenance and suitability to the weather, it is the best option. Except for too much shade, you can plan it in any of your garden areas, public gardens, community gardens, temple gardens etc…

What it needs is a good amount of sunlight water and fertilizer like other plants.

But how to make it low maintenance lawn?

So the secret that how you plan it before planting.

You brought the lawn planned it, leveled your space, and showed on it This is not like this.

There is a proper planting method. you need to follow it First is how to make the base soil for it.

Here is the method :

First, draw the plan and decide the area in which you are going to plan a lawn Now check that the soil tor debris, grass and wanted shrubs, some grasses with stubborn nature need to remove the roots Sweep the area Removal of grass.

Removal of the debris. Removal of the buried stumps and root zones of the plants or weeds needs to remove.

Now dig the soil manually if there is small and big area move the tractor cultivator and then the rotavator (which make the soil block particulate which helps in leveling the soil)

Let dry this soil for at least two to three days Find the stone or any hard materials in there collect and remove it which may damage the lawn mower machine in the future.

Now do flood water in the whole area. Now check for the new seed to sprout. Remove them wait for a few days and do at least three wedding rounds at a time. Before leveling the area by Hand hoe (Pawda) or by tractor leveler in case of a big area.

This is all you need to do before planting the lawns it is a one-time process. Aftercare is very easy in the case of the Selection of one lawn while leveling always check for the soil gradient for better drainage. of the water. Water logging can kill the lawn.

One must know the basics of the soil before starting lawn planting.

Brief soil making for Low maintenance lawn grass in India:

What is topsoil :

In most of the studies, you’ll find that topsoil is the fertile live part of the soil which it is fertile, reason is it contains most of the hummus and it is living because it supports millions of bacteria. they change the various materials in the plant foods.

Usually, the thickness of this layer ranges from two inches in chalky soil to several feet in old, well-tended gardens.

Whenever you dig the soil keep in mind that this humus layer should be turned over, not buried under the subsoil.

What is subsoil?

It lies under the topsoil. It is usually kind of dead-like and unfertile. You can easily identify it by its lighter colour, due to the lack of humus. Whenever you dig the soil keep in mind that it should not be brought to the surface.

So when you start making soil for planting lawn keep this to soil type while moving plough (if needed) or rotavator or manual digging.

How do check you soil is well-drained?

The first step in improving your soil is to assess the drainage in your garden. You can find out by taking the next easy test.

At the base of the garden, create a hole that is 2 feet square and 2 feet deep. See how much water is still present at the bottom of the hole one week after a period of rain.

  • No water in the hole – Drainage satisfactory (no help needed).

  • Some rainwater is still present at the bottom – The drainage is unsatisfactory (Double dig the soil.

  • Hole partly filled with water, some having seeped in from surrounding soil – Drainage really bad (You need a method of drainage improvement)

It’s a little bit hard when you read this but after studying and making soil your lawn is going to flourish more than your neighbour. Even after less effort. The best soil gives the best results.

Fertilizer application

For the base application of fertilizers for the lawn, you can use DAP, Compost and Vermicompost. If you apply all three together it will give the best results.

After complete growth in the first six months, you can apply urea only or vermicompost if you don’t want to use chemical fertilizers. And at the end of the year spread new earth soil mixed with urea or vermicompost.

So you will get the best result.

You can use NPK fertilizers like 19:19:19 also it can provide a balanced supplement for the lawn and not act hard on the lawn, You can apply is water solution as a drenching or spray application also. Spray application gives green look to the lawn.

You don’t need to buy costly nutrition products to maintain your lawn. We described what to do and when to do it.

These are the tried methods for gardens we writing about here.

Systematically planned and placed lawns make the color and texture of your garden floor. A well-drained lawn helps you satisfy both functional and aesthetic needs. It serves a comfortable look for outdoor activity while relaxing with the landscape.

Good and healthy lawn development requires a little bit of hard work and patience and utilities like

Digging tools,

Lawn mowers,

Rakes,

Hedge trimmers or Pruning scissors, etc.

Trend change, as per time, sometimes garden gets designed with a big part of lawn among the total garden area and a sometimes small part of the lawn.

The most common three grass types in INDIA are 1. Selection one, 2. Carpet lawn, and 3. Rough lawn for detailed information on these lawns and planting and maintenance methods read below

Maintenance of these types of lawn grass is easy yet not that easy. Because if we follow the proper procedure of regular maintenance then it’s not that difficult to manage the good appearance and health of the lawn.

But if you are not so regular in maintaining, it becomes difficult to get a good appearance in the long run.

For a planting lawn how to make land preparation for the garden, can learn in the article here.

After that, you can go for the planting of the lawns. so you can have the best lawn.

There are 3 types of lawn grass for a garden lawn which are best selected for most gardens and also types of lawn grass in India.

1 Selection one

2 Carpet lawn

3 Rough lawn

we understand each lawn type step by step below:

1. Selection one lawn –

It’s the most used and loved lawn by the look and by maintenance also. And the best grass for a lawn in India when it’s come to maintenance, weather adaption, good appearance, and fewer termite problems.

Selection one lawn

In a multi-weather-like situation, it sets well and some warm weather is good for it. In India, it’s mostly used in gardens.

You can grow it with seeds, cuttings, and ready-made turf blocks available in your local nurseries.

How to grow these types of lawn grass? You can see the video below. manually growing it basic and easiest way.

The video is in Hindi language but you can watch it to do it practically.

In the winter its growth slows due to down temperatures. You can observe it in your garden. As it bears low-height shoots. But still, it maintains the best green look at this time of the year.

And in monsoon it gets thin and long you can see its scattered/see-through look you can easily see it.

This means its density gets lowest than a whole year.

We have to regularly mow it to get an even carpet-like green look. At least 10 days of the interval is good if you are managing a domestic garden like a home or farmhouse or community hall etc. It isn’t a problem you can follow the interval of 15 days also.

Whereas if you are having big areas like cricket grounds, or football grounds you can stretch the schedule to 15-20 days not more than this.

2. Carpet lawn

It’s not like the first one, it’s kind of a little bit hard leaves than the other two lawns described here.

credits: amazon.in/Syed-carpet-grass-seed

A little bit spiny, you can feel it by walking barefoot and seating on the carpet lawn. It slightly stings while sitting on it when not mowed for a long time.

It’s also known as Korean carpet grass.

Nowadays it’s in demand in a short time for garden project completion. mostly in city planning and quick fit. Good for the short time frame of the Garden project completion.

Because it’s easily available in ready-made blocks in the dimension of 1×2 square feet piece.

So you have to just make the land ready (give some light dose of DAP fertilizer for long-term base fertilizer), level, and then start putting these blocks not leaving the space in between.

Don’t forget to apply termiticide before laying the blocks. Because termite loves their roots.

Even a dry lawn also attracts termites so don’t forget to water this lawn at regular intervals.

It’s a good lawn to stop stubborn weed areas. And very strong and thick compared to the other two lawns selected rough lawns.

The carpet lawn nicely fights Cyprus weed expansion. Not completely stops it but it controls it by 60-70% approximately.

You can also grow this lawn manually by planting root-bearing lawn cutting at a distance of 0.75 to 1 foot (leaving measurement around each cutting).

If you mow lawn late and deep then you can have exposed stems/roots and a pale yellowish look.

3. Rough lawn (paspalum)

This is the best lawn for shady and semi-shade areas that still grow nicely below the open sky. Paper-like thin leaves.

Rough lawn (paspalum)

Need regular watering otherwise get down on irregular watering. In too hot weather leaf edges get burned.

It feels soft compared to a carpet lawn while walking barefoot.

It’s not dense as carpet lawn and selection one lawn so have some weeds seen. Thus need regular weeding at intervals of a few days.

Grow this lawn manually by planting root-bearing lawn cutting at a distance of 0.75 to 1 foot (leaving measurement around each cutting).

At least 10 days of the interval is good for lawn mowing if you are managing a domestic garden like a home or farmhouse or community hall etc.

For mowing, you can use electric or petrol-run lawn mowers as well as manual lawn mowers for four types of machines.

Manual lawn mowers are not a good choice if you have a carpet lawn because it takes some effort in mowing this lawn.

So here we complete the brief learning of types of lawns.

Winters are the best period for giving fertilizers to any lawn. Because in most cases we use chemical fertilizers for their better look-after establishment. Flood watering is good after the application of chemical fertilizers.

These chemical Fertilizers (for ex. Urea) are warm in nature. So during the bulk application, it’s good to choose winter. So burning of lawn shoots or whole lawn dry patches of the lawns can be avoided compared to summer application.

It’s OK to apply such Fertilizers in any weather but winter is a better option.

The best fertilizer for lawn grass in India

One of the best fertilizers for the Top 3 types of lawn grass for a garden lawn as explained above are UREA, COMPOST/FYM, and vermicompost. You can also use this fertilizer for other types of lawn grass.

Urea for lawn grass :

It’s the main source of nitrogen and is also widely used in agriculture also. But here we use it for lawn development and to make it lush green and healthy.

It’s available in crystal form. And contains 46% nitrogen.

It can be applied to soil as a solid or as a foliar spray.

Slow-release Urea is also available in the market which is useful for all three types of lawn grass.

The very basic style you can apply to the lawn is to get your palm full of it and throw widely as many areas as you can cover, this is enough for any regularly maintained lawn.

After application of the urea watering is a must, at least for 4-5 days two times a day continuously if possible, or one time a day with a good amount of water. And yes immediately after spreading the Urea on the lawn.

After the application of the Urea, we should not break the watering schedule as I said above. Otherwise, there are chances of the burning of the lawn.

COMPOST/FYM for lawn grass :

Compost is the best organic natural Fertilizer which is full of microorganisms.

It’s the microorganisms that play a vital role in the development of grass or any crop as well.

They make the nutrition available for the lawn.

VERMI-COMPOST for lawn grass:

It’s made from the decomposition of earth soil by earthworms (as used mostly in India), red wigglers, and white worms.

You can buy organic vermicompost online as well as from local nurseries also.

Best organic fertilizer for lawns and garden plants.

Extra care points

Whatever type of lawn grass type you grow as per your requirements, all lawns are good as per particular accommodation.

If you notice over a period of time all lawn gets down, and weeding frequencies increase. Even an overall look can get a dull little bit. So replanting can be a good option after a few years.

So there are two ways to get it done one by replanting and the other by some series of practices. Like aggressive weeding, timely application of fertilizers, watering, etc.

Lawn mowing

Lawn mowing

Regular lawn mowing is best for the health of the lawn and its green even appearance. If you mow the lawn on an irregular base lawn will grow in height. and after that when you cut the lawn cream/pale yellow stem part of the lawn plant bottom will appear.

And as a result, you will have an ugly cream-colored look instead of a green look.

Deep cutting of the lawn is good but not regular/frequent, you can do it three to four times a year,

Usually, we call it zero-cut lawn mowing.

You can use some good electric lawn mowers as well as a manual lawn mower for lawn cutting your lawn for it to have fine even cutting. These practices are good for all types of lawn grass.

Replanting

In Replanting, you need to scrape all the existing laws and then the same lawn can be replanted by screening them for weeds carefully. only healthy shoots can be selected.

An open scraped area needs to plow or a rotavator can be moved and the backyard garden can be deep dug manually with a pickaxe ( always check for safety like underground electric cables, pipelines, etc. You can read more after practice for growing lawns.

When we walk on the same lawn area over and over that area starts losing lawns sometimes lawns completely get away so we need to plant a new lawn.

But as a prevention when you start seeing such symptoms on the lawn, you should avoid walking in such areas frequently at least for one or two months. On a prevention base, you can sprinkle gypsum powder from any nearest agri. store.

You can use chlorpyriphos for drenching the soil to avoid termites and other insects in the soil which can bother the lawn growth in the future

Practice other than Replanting

And in other practices when you don’t need to replant you need to dethatch your lawn and after dethatch, you can move the lawnmower on it to collect the dethatched lawn (see video below).

If you have a small lawn area you can rake at regular intervals to make the lawn clean and healthy

Dethatching of Garden Lawn

Then you can spread the soil mixture to rejuvenate A generalized ideal mixture of earth soil 80% + fine sifted river sand not more than 20% to maintain the porosity.

You can add pesticide (*while using pesticide always check and follow safety rules) for termite treatment or any other pest problem.

Also add Urea or FYM (compost) or vermicompost.

Above all gardening practices is suitable for all three types of lawn grass

Above are the best grass for the lawn.

Garden landscaping -Fixing of paver blocks and bricks [2022]

A look at well-designed garden pavers

Before starting any garden landscaping means planting and outlining the garden before the starting of green work which is the planting of lawns, plants, etc.

We should learn, and understand it’s another sub-step of how to put paver blocks or bricks and walk paths and some civil work.

In the last article, we understood garden landscaping design’s first step which is layout making of selected garden areas from paper to on land.

How to do landscaping of paver blocks and bricks

To design/landscape you can draw on your own or can take the help of an architect, or landscape designer before starting the work on the land.

There are some good garden design software and,

Now we start some practical work which means the garden will start getting its shape.

Before actual work starts to get garden design ideas, you can learn from Garden design books for beginners.

Garden Landscaping

It will be visible by real design made by yourself or an architect or landscape designer. How it looks on real land.

The sole purpose of this blog is to help people start garden design work on their own. So they don’t need to wander here and there for making their own garden.

Whenever someone or a newbie starts making their garden lots of questions arise in their mind where to start? when to start? What to plant? Which are the plants to plant? How to make walk paths? etc.

If I go more it will be a long list of questions.

I have just written it for example. So one can not need to go anywhere. I will provide here all articles step by step that what to do first and then what to do next.

The blog is written to make each step worthy and practical to shape your garden beautifully even if you know nothing about gardening.

Still, there is a request that when you start making a garden there may be situations that arise which are not written at all. Because everyone has their own queries. So feel free to contact me.

As you guys understand it’s not possible to cover each and every factor here. Feel free to write to me or comment, it’s a pleasure to answer your questions.

Now see the image below on how to start the work.

Marking thread and brick arrangement.

Fixing of paver blocks and bricks steps for Garden Landscaping

Here we learn basic garden landscaping design. Not that high-end architectural sober designs. It will be hard to understand in the beginning.

First of all, see the above image for reference. After marking the lines, start digging line by line with “kodali (garden hoe)” and before starting the digging job, remove the thread. Let the marking bar on their space just remove the thread or plastic sutali.

We need to remove the thread before digging because if you dig with “kodali” it may cut the plastic sutali. Don’t go for curvey designs at the start of your first project go simple with straight designs.

For example, you have to dig one 10 feet line so first remove the making thread/ plastic sutali. Then let bar at both ends on their place. Dig how deep you want to as per your paver or brick size.

Now as per your design, you decide by what material you are going to make borders from means you are using bricks or paver blocks, or small walls (one or two feet in height).

For example, if you are using brick then you have to dig its half of the height (horizontally or vertically).

Because we bury half of the bricks by their height ( as per the design you can bury by vertically or horizontally) in the soil for their proper fixture in the soil/ land. As per your design, you can use a paver block also.

After digging now tie the removed thread and adjust the height of the thread from the soil level that how much brick gets in the soil and what part is outside. And now following the thread correctly put bricks one by one in line.

Fix the surrounding soil after completing the one line. This is how your marking or periphery of the garden gets completed.

During this step of DIY garden development, you also need to add walk paths, civil structures, rocky features, a fountain, a small pond, etc. Everything needs to complete in this step before starting any green work/planting.

It gives the actual shape of the garden so you can decide what to plant as per design. Which gives a permanent shape to your garden as well as a complete look. It divides garden features or segments like lawns, ornamental plants, kitchen gardens, and tree plants in a good eye-catching manner.

This will not give you an instant look in the initial stage, because plants, lawns, etc are in the initial stage and not well grown except if you plant well grown good height plants or lawn blocks.

I tried my best to make this garden landscaping (DIY garden) as simple and informative as possible for Garden landscaping of how to put paver blocks and bricks “  But still if you have any doubts or queries then feel free to ask me in the comment section below.

Rainy weather plant care guide [2022]

Rainy weather plant care [2022]

Today we are going to discuss the handy tips for how to take care of plants in Rainy Weather, you will get the complete answer to this question.

We the people of India blessed with the best weather. Especially the plant’s lover/collector, they have a collection of plants.

For every plant lover, I am discussing a domestic plant collector.

They care for all three main seasons: summer, monsoon, and winter by themselves.

They maintain their plant by themselves without taking any specialized annual maintenance services.

They care for them like their child. As far as I know, they hire gardeners for watering weeding, etc.

A gardener who waters digs the soil, fertilizes, and does the weeding.

There is no need to water if they are below the open sky. When they are having frequent rain on time.

After the first rain, if it does not arrive after two to three days you may water on the third or fourth day. Just check the upper layer of the potting soil or garden soil is dry enough, before watering.

But it is always on you to be vigilant about how plants react. Don’t let plants without water. So as the situation arrives water the plant.

Plants who absorbed too much water. They have symptoms like leaf fall, rotting of root zones, and the gloomy appearance of plants.

If you have a big corridor with plants arranged in the open sky know the varieties that don’t like too much water.

Put such plants in a roofing shade so plants will not get direct pouring rain. It may ruin some varieties badly or damage them

Desert/tropical varieties do not like rain for example- Adeniums, cactus plants, succulents, etc

Always check for a drainage hole at bottom of the pot. if it is a ceramic, Earthen, or plastic pot It’s necessary for proper drainage of excess water.

Hence during the time of monsoon, pot floods with pot soil.

The root system gets exposed and there will be a start the damage to plants.

Why is rainy season plant care needed?

  • Monsoon is the best time for plants because it facilitates low temperature and humidity and all combo of weather for plants to grow. This makes plants feel better to survive and settle well.

  • Encourages root tip elongation for the well spread of root zones.

  • Now the question arises that after an all favorable atmosphere why do we need to care for them in the monsoon.

  • Because this favorable weather also invites pests, insects, and fungi to settle during this time.

  • Also chances of roots rotting in plants.

  • Fertigation at this time is best. why? because most of us use chemical fertilizers they warm by nature after they get mixed up in the soil they start creating heat around.

  • But the cold atmosphere of the monsoon around helps the plant feels well even after fertigation. But at this time light, fertigation is good rather than heavy.

  • Such heat may cause root damage thus it damages the whole plant also. if you are a regular gardener you may have seen such a thing in your gardening tenure. It happens more in summer.

  • The reason is the outer atmosphere is warm and the root zone has heat after fertilizer application both kinds of the warm atmosphere become unbearable for plants and plants get die. Such thing mainly occurs in the summertime if you noticed.

  • So monsoon is the best time to fertilize plants also.

  • Always check for stagnant water it may damage the plant.

General rainy season plant care tips

  • If you found a few rotten leaves in some water-obsessed plants, remove them.

  • To avoid rotting after rain, drench it with proper fungicide for its survival.

  • Re-potting: to do for Plants which have over absorption of rainwater.

  • And the plants with over drained pot soil with opened root zones.

  • Re-potting is not necessary for all pots, you can refill earth soil or plant mixture in pots. To fulfill soil drained during rain and have seen open roots zones.

How to take care of plants in rainy weather (For the collection of plants in the corridor below the open sky
) :

Here is the checklist for it –

1. Earth soil flooded from the pot with rainwater?

Ans- re-pot with new plant mixture if needed otherwise one can just add mixture which is washed out

2. wet earthen pot has cracks?

Ans- better to change such pot on time before they get exposed to rain.

3. No drainage from the bottom hole of the pot?

Ans- Make the holes at the bottoms of the pot or replace them with a pot with a hole. Excess water stored in the pot may damage roots and thus the whole plant. If there is a tray below the pot better to empty it when filled with water, if possible remove them to avoid stagnant water.

4. Some water-obsessed plants may get down/die check for it?

Ans- If possible treat with fungicides. on the intervals of 7-15 days as per plant requirements. Means hardened need more or young plants less. 50-100 of the solution is enough to drench. After the drench put some water in it also. Keep some distance from the main stem(root zone). Think of a stem as a center at least keep a radial distance of 3-6 inches for garden plants, it varies as per plant size and height. The purpose is not to harm root zones.

5. Do you have a collection of Cactus and Succulents?

Ans- Cactus plants in the open sky rather than glass house or polyhouse we usually drench plants with COC (copper oxychloride). Two grams/liter (Get expert advice for your plants before using it). At an interval of 7-10 days during regular rainy days. If the rain is not that frequent you can stretch the schedule to 10-12 days. But be vigilant that they do not get rotten. usually, they start rotting from the base of the plant ( Ex. Grusonii cactus). But some may get rotting on top or middle also.

Rotten cactus plants after rain.

WHen GARDEN PLANTS IN THE RAINY WEATHER get AFFECTED BY RAIN

The part of a plant that gets damaged or rotten then applies COC (copper oxychloride) to it.

It can stop the plant get damaging more.

When the plant gets gloomy apply fungicide treatment to them in the potting soil.

Drench fungicide at intervals of every 7-8 days. For a collection of cactus plants in the open space.

Always use branded fungicides available in the market, and avoid low-quality ones. While application of such chemicals always keeps your pet and children far from the pot.

Keep such chemicals out of reach of children and pets. Always follow product instructions while using chemicals.

Conclusion

To make your garden thrive in the pre and post-monsoon most of the practices you need to do is :

  1. less watering,
  2. Check for pests, insects, and fungi,
  3. Pruning of overgrown leaves or branches.
  4. Whenever possible give sunlight exposure in between.
  5. Can use fungicide for affected plants.
  6. Avoid over-watering.

Wish you all the plant and garden lovers happy plant care during rainy weather.

How to layout garden design- [ Basic guidelines for beginners 2022 ]

How to layout garden design

In this informative article about garden layout planning we just understand the basics which will help you to plan out a whole thing in a simple way so you will not find yourself in between the sea when you actually start making your garden and where to go now. It gives you a complete simple outline of how to develop your own garden by yourself.

Basic steps to layout garden design

  • A basic step to garden layout planning is going to explain today as simply as possible. I am here trying to describe practical planning of the home garden not in so technical way so a beginner can easily understand.
  • First of all, get the total area of the garden. You can measure it in square meters or square feet also.
  • Draw the shape of the actual area on paper and note down the total area. After measurement one can plan what you want to Plant and divide/allot area for features like Lawn, ornamental plants, hedges, topiary, etc.
  • From the total garden area. Means what percent of lawn you want to plan, out of the total area the same as plants, shrubs, topiary, ornamental plants, etc.( **Ornamental plants – a group of the plant which consists mostly of attractive flowering plants as well as some foliage plant also )

For beginners in gardening – what a symbolic home garden contains or would have features are as below.

  • Fifty to sixty percent of the total area should be lawn.

  • And left forty to fifty percent area to be covered with hedges, ornamental plants, topiary, etc.

  • Topiary- for example, we plant a casuarina plant grow it to some sufficient height, and then shape it like a square shape, barrel shape, or any bird or animal shape i.e. Peacock, dear, etc..is called topiary work or plant. See the below figure.

Introducing: New practices for healthy preparation of soil for garden, 2022

Land Preparation for garden

In a journey of How to start a development/making of a garden. preparation of soil for garden is an important step to follow during it.

The First step for garden development is the preparation of land also we can’t refer to it as soil preparation it’s a different thing. How to prepare a land we understand as below.

General discussion about soil is discussed in this blog do not mix it with land preparation be clear any doubt comment below, it’s completely different from each other. But here we start working on practical steps of making land suitable for shaping our garden on it. Means planting of lawns, shrubs, herbs, trees, etc.

take note that this is also an important step before executing the garden.

Preparation of soil for garden/ Land preparation for garden

What are the steps of the preparation of soil? There are three main steps for the preparation of soil for garden as described below :

STEP-1 WATERING, CLEANING & PLOUGHING

  • Most in the case before the development of garden lands were found shabby for example a garden patch left after construction which found with some debris and land, not in use for long found with heavy weeds and scrap, etc.

  • So first of all for land preparation for the garden remove the dirt, debris, and weeds from the assigned/particular area finalized for garden development.

  • Now water the whole area in which we are going to develop a garden. If there are monsoons and the area is wet then no need to water it.

  • In a dry season give it a flood watering. Then let it dry till the day when you put the foot open on land and the foot doesn’t have sticky soil on it. Which means it’s an ideal soil for plowing.

  • Then dig the soil by tractor cultivator or plow (as the requirement of your land). And after that move a rotary mover on it. One can do shallow digging by “Kodali” and then level it with “Pawda” also if the garden area is small (means home garden etc).

  • Now the question arises in the mind why is such hard work done? The answer is all these practices make soil aeration, porosity, and water holding capacity good for all the green stuff we are planning to grow on that land.

STEP-2 LEVELING

  • In this step, we level the land after the completion of digging/plowing.

  • While the execution of leveling soil moisture of the land would be 20-10% not more than this otherwise wet soil will stick to leveling tools, which may lead to improper preparation of land.

  • In a small garden, you can do leveling with handheld tools like “Pawda” and in a big area, leveling can be done by tractor levelers of heavy-duty leveling machines in case of large projects.

STEP-3 GRADIENT OF LAND

  • Here we define the GRADIENT of land as 1 and 0 where 1 is the highest level of the land assigned for the garden and 0 will be the lowest point of the garden area. Now one question in your mind arises what is the need for GRADIENT in the making of the garden? The answer is as below.

  • A well-directed GRADIENT of the garden makes a good way out for water we provide to the garden lawn and plants. So as the soil becomes well-drained and it arranges good aeration for the plant root zone.

  • If we do not follow this step this may cost us in the latter. If not checked well during leveling there are waterlogged areas that get left, and waterlogging is very bad for most of the garden plants. Occurs in root rot and then you buy chemicals to cure it and so on.

  • In the long-run well-leveled garden go very good for sustainability and good health of lawn and plants so as for the beauty of the  GARDEN.

  • So as part of learning how to start a garden initiative, you got the most basic of PREPARATION OF SOIL FOR GARDEN.

Have questions? Feel free to comment I’ll reply.

How do you prepare land for a garden?

1. First of all water the raw land after it gets dry dig well manually or by a tractor.
2 Remove unwanted weed, debris, and dirt.
3 Plowing for good aeration of the soil for the plant’s root zone. Which helps the plant flourish.
3 Level the land and set the water gradient for well-draining of water.
4 Apply the base fertilizer (EX. DAP) or Any organic fertilizers before planting any green stuff (plants, lawns, etc.)
5 Do termite or insect treatment that is already in the soil.
This practice makes the soil completely ready for the garden.

What soil to use to start a garden?

1. What soil consists of is ingredients like sand, clay, Chalk, and humus. The best mixture of these ingredients makes the loamy soil.
2. Ideal garden soil consists of sufficient plant food for maximum growth, maximum loam texture, a substantial amount of humus, and a well-drained subsoil.

Why is there a need to prepare the land for planting?

1. Because when you plant a plant fertilizer does not get stolen by weeds, it goes to your plant.
2. Ploughed land provides the best aeration to plant root zones.
3. A prior insecticide treatment makes plants free from soil-born diseases.
4. A good level makes the garden free from water logging in all seasons with monsoon also.
5. this makes the garden sustainable for a long.

What are the 5 steps in land preparation?

1. Watering is the first step, it makes the land soft before starting out the land preparation work.
2. Ploughing – is important for good aeration for your future plans.
3. Insecticide treatment makes plants free from soil-borne diseases and makes land free from diseases.
4. Leveling to set water draining gradient to avoid waterlogging
5. Fertilization of the soil by base fertilizer like DAP (Diammonium phosphate) instead of NPK

A new approach to general gardening steps before planing it first time

General gardening things to understand before planning it

Namaste, Guys

Today focus on what and how you could go when you decide to plant a garden.

  • There is one thing you need to do first before making a garden, and that is commitment, passion, hobby, and Patience.

  • If you start making the garden by seeing someone’s garden or a neighbor’s garden or some good garden available on the internet, things will not go longer if it doesn’t contain consistency and commitment.

  • Because whenever you start working on making a garden first the thing to know about plants they will not grow overnight you need to have Patience for the garden to get complete and plants are like newborn babies they need your care, water, supplement, and love after you plant them in the garden).

  • They need daily attention when you plant them in the initial days. Like watering, shallow digging, basing making around them, checking for pest infestations, etc.

  • And then some main things to make a garden are deciding the place, availability of water and sufficient sunlight, planning/designing ( which contains all main stuff like the planting of shrubs, lawns, trees, and Landscaping, walking paths, rocky features, waterbody, water stream, etc.
